"Joy to the World" Huskies take Three Dog Night title

Despite missing six of their starters the Edmond North wrestling team made it sixteen consecutive Edmond city championships as they claimed the title at "Three Dog Night" last evening at Edmond North high school.

The Huskies battled Edmond Santa Fe in the first dual of the night and were leading 7-6 when Parsa Lessani got the pin at 195 pounds and that got the ball rolling for the Huskies. Coach Andy Schneider said Lessani, a senior has been in the program for three years but this is his first year as part of the varsity and is having a "break-out year." Edmond North also got pins from Zane Bailey at 285 pounds and then again at 120 pounds when Trent Higinbotham scored a pin early in the third period as Edmond North defeated Edmond Santa Fe 47-12.

In the final dual of the night Edmond North got off to a quick start as Charles Ward scored a pin at 170 pounds in the second period. Later, Lessani scored a pin again at 195 and Zane Bailey at 285 giving the Huskies a 21 to 3 lead.

The Huskies later put things away as they got a technical fall at 126 pounds from Paxton Rosen and then back to back pins by Brandon Bright at 132 and Drake Vannoy at 138 pounds leading to a final score of 55 to 12.

The Huskies are currently ranked number four in class 6A behind number one Choctaw, Sand Springs and number three Broken Arrow.
